A Jesus Mission

Stephen & Stephanie Smith

Missionaries | Lebanon

Since 2012, the Smith family has been serving Jesus in a variety of ways. Stephen is a former police officer and Stephanie is a college professor. Their primary outreach platform is medical training and food service ministry, through which they have seen dozens of people choose to give their lives to Jesus. They have also served in tornado and hurricane disaster zones, providing meals and helping with debris removal for affected communities.

In 2023, Stephen, Stephanie, and their two children spent several months in Ukraine serving both soldiers and civilians by teaching medical aid, delivering food, and helping teach English as a second language. During this season — and in the year that followed — Stephen served as a volunteer military chaplain and later led the AJM team in Ukraine, overseeing water deliveries, evacuations, and medical training efforts.

After a year of leadership there, the family felt called to the Middle East — specifically Lebanon and Syria. They are now based in Lebanon and travel into Syria, where they continue teaching medical and trauma care training to civilians and first responders.

Their mission is to equip people with the practical skills needed to save lives in emergencies while also sharing their testimonies and the Gospel. Their prayer is to remain willing to go wherever God sends them and to help save lives both spiritually and physically.
