Being Intentional

As we continue on in 2021, I am learning more about how important it is to prioritize family time. It is so easy to get caught up in external ministries outside the home that we begin to unintentionally (I hope) ignore our family and neglect our primary Ministry. As I read scripture I am reminded that my primary responsibility is to my wife and my children. I am a man after God’s own heart and that means I am to love my wife as He loves the church and raise my children as He instructs me to. By doing everything under the sun except ministering to my kids, I am neglecting what I was called to. Being present and intentional is very vital to the growth of my family and so we (My wife and I) have decided to be intentional every Saturday and have a family day. Today we did just that. We went and had lunch together at Red Robins and then went to Knights Ferry to walk around and enjoy the beauty that was created by God. the hills, water, rocks, and the beauty that was created by men such as the bridge and other things there. It was a beautiful time. A time where we were not on social media, phones, tablets, or any electronic. Just there with one another taking in God’s beauty. That was beautiful. I hope and pray that as I grow in Christ daily that He reminds me to focus on His purpose for me and not what I want. To God be the Glory forever and ever Amen!

“As for husbands, love your wives just like Christ loved the church and gave himself for her.” — Ephesians 5:25

I am learning to love as Christ has called me and that is a challenge. I am called to love as He loves the church and that has proven to be a task that is so difficult but transformational.

“Parents, don’t provoke your children in a way that ends up discouraging them.” — Colossians 3:21

As I mature in my faith I am learning to teach my kids by my actions, how much I love them. I have a tendency to joke with them and call them out of their names and they lovingly remind me to not do so. I am learning daily from the mouths of babes.

“My son, keep your father’s command; don’t abandon your mother’s instruction.” — Proverbs 6:20

The Lord has commanded me to love and so I am choosing daily to do so. A task that I know will give me perseverance.

“Friends love all the time, and kinsfolk are born for times of trouble.” — Proverbs 17:17

I have come to know that Friends come and go, but family sticks with you during the hardest of times. Here at Langorth, we are building a family.

In His Grace,
