“A friend loves at all times, and a brother (or sister) is born for a time of adversity.”
Let me introduce you to these three beautiful creations of God. Three siblings and children, that Bernardo and I (and our family in Christ) have the once in a lifetime opportunity and privilege, to instruct in the Lord, disciple, discipline, pray with, serve alongside with, and (hopefully one day) explore the world with and to (try to) be there for them during life’s up and down experiences. Three children, that the Lord will use as His prophets, worshippers, leaders, loving friends and brothers/sisters to many during times of adversity.
At their tender age, they already get to live life alongside other missionaries and experience God, in real tangible ways. A few months after my family & I moved onto the Langworth Base, we had the unique opportunity of meeting fellow missionaries during the Band Conference. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, prayer, learning about the Lord, testimonials, communion and experiencing the Holy Spirit move! Lots of seeds of friendship & brotherly love were sown during that time.
Since we’ve moved onto the base, Alicia, Elijah & Esther have been blessed to be able to do a lot of growing. Daily they are blessed to be living alongside other children, and many missionaries, who’ve helped hold them accountable. It’s not always easy, but it’s a learning experience and opportunity for growth. The many seeds that have been sown, Alicia, Elijah and Esther, will be able to use when faced with situations, amongst each other and others, while out in the real world.
My prayer, is that my husband Bernardo and I, along with other missionaries, get to be real life examples for them (and others) of what being a loving friend and brother/sister in time of adversity is all about. As I hope and pray that they continue to experience being real life examples of brotherly and sisterly love, practicing encouragement, correction, and that they get to experience God’s fruit of the Spirit, during times of joy and even during times of adversity.
