In October of 2009, during Basic Training for the Army National Guard, I made a decision to follow Jesus. But it wasn’t till December 26th of 2011 that I finally decided to surrender everything over to Him. I was a selfish husband to my wife and was at the point where I was willing to risk our marriage for my own selfish habits. I was reading a book called “Through my Eyes” by Tim Tebow and that’s when I finally realized just how selfish I truly was and that I couldn’t do life on my own anymore. I needed God more than ever, so I got out of bed, tears flowing down my face and surrendered everything over to Christ. I started praying for a church that my family and I could call home and Discovery Church is the one that God placed on my heart. My Wife and I had met Pastor Tim back in 2009 before I left for Basic training. We even made it to 3 or 4 services but decided we could worship God at home and didn’t need a church. And we were so wrong. I met with Pastor Tim the first weekend of January 2012 and told him about my life changing decision and that I needed someone to help me know Jesus on a more intimate level. Pastor Tim met with me weekly and encouraged me to join a small group. So thats what I did and through it I met Pastor Nate who at that time was in charge of the Student Ministry. After a few months of Small group and one on one Discipleship with Pastor Tim, I felt that it was time to take my next step and serve. I started co-leading a small group with Pastor Nate in March with the Student Ministry and even felt the call to preach and teach. God provided that opportunity and I started sharing preaching responsibilities with Pastor Nate on Wednesday nights for our Student Ministry. By July of 2012 I took over as Student Pastor for our Student Ministry and have been leading it ever since. And in January of 2013 I also took on the role of Kids Pastor. Finally in July of 2015 I was officially ordained through Discovery Church. I realized that it was time to take my next step so I quit my job to come on board as one of the first full time paid staff members at Discovery Church. I thank God every day for redeeming me. For saving my marriage and leading me to be the Godly father and husband that my family deserves.
