Do things with people.

The busier our schedules become and the more we have to accomplish on our task list; the harder it becomes hard to spend time with people. It’s amazing how even the people we love the most seem to slip through the cracks. Days, months, even years can pass by before we’re able to connect.

Sarah and I just had a baby, so our lives are a bit chaotic at the moment. We don’t sleep much (obviously), we’re working on more projects than ever before, and we are trying to keep the house clean enough to have people over for church on Tuesday night. And yet we are realizing that now more than ever, we have to be intentional with our time.

What we’ve really learned in this season is that if we don’t plan something with the people around us, it just won’t happen! So, we’ve been fighting to keep calls, dinners, and hangouts of any kind on our schedule.

A result of Gospel transformed lives should be healthy relationships. But the reality is that healthy relationships take a massive amount of effort! My encouragement to you (and mostly to myself) as you live on mission today: go out of your way to spend time with people.

Count the cost of spending time with the people around you as worthy of your investment, and then, invest. Invest your time, your effort, your money, and your hours. The return on that investment will assuredly result in new opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel with a lost and dying world, as well as depth in your existing communities.

So this week eat a meal with someone. Get a coffee. Make a phone call. Text someone. Play golf with somebody. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, as long as you’re doing it with someone.

Let’s live on mission by seeking people out and putting them on our calendar!
