Sarah co-founded The Broken Bones Collective and serves as a missionary doing spoken word poetry.
My name is Sarah Haghgoo and I was born and raised in Washington state. I grew up as a Christian with a love for Jesus but struggled much with my own identity. This led to wrestling for years with the dissonance between my faith, sexuality, and same-sex relationships. On top of that I also struggled with much depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. But through it all, God has been faithful and He has taught me that I am not a slave to any temptation or feeling. There is power in Christ Jesus our Lord and even something such as homosexuality, anxiety, or depression has to bow down to Him. An outlet I have used to process my emotions has been through spoken word poetry. Which is why my friend Anna and I started The Broken Bones Collective, a spoken word ministry that speaks the real dark truth of humanity and the struggles we go through, yet tells people of the hope, light and freedom found only in Jesus Christ. My hope is to use this poetry to spread the gospel and share my own struggles so that anyone who listens would know they aren’t alone but that there is hope even in the darkest place.
