Surviving Change

None of us escapes change.

Seasons change, our bodies change, our hopes and opinions change. Within the realm of our lives, very little remains static. So often we wrestle to prevent changes in some areas of our life, yet we strive for and embrace it in others. We truly long for change when it enhances our lives, yet despise it when it bears us inconvenience or pain.

Though we are aware we cannot escape change, as a believer we should have the right perspective of it. I love this text:

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. (Psalms 1:1-3 ESV)

Though we cannot avoid it, we have been given the ability to stand strong during the various changes and seasons of our lives. When we meditate on and delight in the Word of God, we are being adequately equipped BY GOD for the coming seasons of life. The constant truths found in the Word will always outlast our circumstances. If we are meditating and dwelling in His Word, it always bears the right fruit in the right season.

When we delight in the Word, the fruits we bear throughout the various seasons of life will be healthy ones. We can be assured that they have been developed into spiritual maturity by the truth of God, imparted to us by the written Word of God.

We can best withstand the changing seasons of life when our perspectives are rooted in unchanging truths.
